Parola ยท last updated 7 September 2026
Parola works entirely without an account, and without collecting anything. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDK of any kind. Signing in is optional and exists for exactly one purpose: carrying your progress between your own devices.
Nothing leaves your device. Which words you have met, how well you answered them, when each is next due for review, and whether you prefer English definitions shown or hidden โ all of it is written to storage on the device itself. The app makes no network requests while you use it: every word, recording and picture is included in the download and it is designed to work with no connection at all. Deleting the app deletes it.
Two things are then stored on a server operated by us, in Germany:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| An account identifier | Apple gives the app a subject identifier that is unique to you and to this app. We store a one-way SHA-256 hash of it, never the value itself, so the record cannot be matched against you in any other app or service. It is the only thing that links your devices to each other. |
| Your learning progress | The same per-word review schedule the app already keeps on the device: word identifiers, counts, and dates. Nothing about you. |
We do not ask Apple for your name or your email address, and we do not receive them. There is no password, because there is nothing to log in to beyond Apple's own sheet.
None. The data is not sold, not shared, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across apps or websites. No third party has access to it.
Open Account in the app and choose Elimina account. The account identifier and the progress stored for it are deleted from the server immediately and permanently โ not deactivated, not retained. The progress on your device is left alone, so the app keeps working exactly as it did before you signed in.
Progress is kept for as long as the account exists, so that it is there when you sign in on another device. Deleting the account deletes it. There are no backups from which it is later restored.
The app is rated 4+ and collects nothing that could identify anyone, including children.
